I have never given affogato much attention? Not sure why, but sometimes the most simple wonderful ingredients are the best…really they are. The other night we went out to a place here in town St Cecilia Restaurant and had an affogato and oh goodness me it was wonderful. I will say the Valrhona Chocolate Pearls do make this dessert. I was able to get them at Whole Foods. They are chocolate covered biscuit cereals is what they call them? hummm I would say they are a dark chocolate crunchy candy. Really tasty, I am sure I will be adding them to other things. Good little things…try them!
Affogato with Chocolate Pearls and Chantilly Cream
1/4 cup of whipped cream
2 scoops of vanilla bean ice cream
2 tablespoons Valrhona chocolate covered pearls
2 oz or one shot of expresso
To make chantilly cream place 2 cups of heavy cream in mixer, add 1/4 cup powdered sugar and 2 teaspoons vanilla paste and whip until peaks form.
Add the chantilly cream to the glass, then top with 2 scoops of ice cream sprinkle on the pearls and pour over the hot expresso….enjoy!
