Day 3 Viking River Rhine Cruise

November 11, 2013 by Angie Leave a Comment

Angie's Rhine River Cruise

Today we had a large breakfast with all sorts of things. Then on to the bus and off to Strasbourg. Oh, dear me what a lovely place. Rivers running all through the city and flowers every where. Not sure what I was thinking but, I did not envision such a wonderful place. Strasbourg is such a quaint city. I want to return here and spent more time. Today I did not get many pictures due to the weather. It was not only raining it was pouring and I mean pouring at times. So, I did not take my nice camera out due to the weather. I only have a few phone pictures sorry….but never the less it is my favorite place so far. Wish I had better pictures to show you and prove how beautiful it was. But it is hard to manage a camera, umbrella, gloves and rain….not easy at all.

I did get to try some of their local treats…..gingerbread, cookies, macrons, four gras and beer. See this area is both French and German. They are in the process of setting up and getting ready for this large market they have each year from November to Christmas. They have many Christmas decorations and lights all over the place. Looks like it would be a wonderful thing to have on my bucket list…yea! I did get to go to a Mass service but, I could not understand what he was saying but I pretty much know.

Angie's Rhine Wine Tasting
Then we road up into the mountains to the wine region of Alsace. It was a wonderful drive through the country side. Once we got to the winery we had a little education on the wine, grapes, vines of the area. Then we got to sample some of the area wines. Then on to Overina, here we had a little free time. Then back to the ship for dinner and a great time with all the friends we have made…..I am having a great time.
