I am participating in a blog cookie swap. I bake 3 dozen cookies and send one dozen to three different bloggers in different parts of the country. They do not know who has their name and I do not know who has my name. The best part of all is I get cookies from 3 different bloggers. It is like secret santa….isn’t this fun!! Well, the rules are it has to be a cookie I haven’t written about. Plus it has to be a cookie that is shipped and will make the trip. So, I had a hard time picking what do I send, hummmm let me think so I decided to make Sweet Dreams they actually taste better after a day or so since they have several spices. Just hope my little friends make the trip.
Sweet Dreams
1 cup soften butter
1 1/2 cup brown sugar packed firmly
1 large egg
2 cups unbleached flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
2 cups chopped walnuts
1 12oz bag of chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 box powdered sugar
Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy add your vanilla and egg, beat well. Sift the flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and ginger and then add to the butter mixture. Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts. Form into 1 inch balls coat in confection sugar well!! Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes. I do dust a little more confection sugar on the top of the cookie while it is still hot.
I did put a little more in my package than they requested but that is me….a Little over the Top. I put my cookies, a little note, hot cocoa mix, home made marshmallows, 2 sweet little gingerbread cookie ornaments for their tree. I packaged it all up in my colors pink with a little green and sealed it up and off to the post office. I was so excited silly me!! Merry Christmas!
I sent my cookies to:
Melissa in New York
Desiree in Tennessee
Jennifer in Boston
I have such fun with this Christmas cookie swap. I do want to thank Julie and Lindsay for putting this all together for us bloggers. What a wonderful, fun thing to do for the holiday season. Send home baked cookies all over the conutry for others to try.
The cookies I received for the cookie swap this year are from all over, which is so fun.
The frist cookies I received were the black and white biscotti from The Gaited Baker. They are on the larger one on the left of the photo.
Then I got chocolate chip with mint chocolate chips stuffed with Oreo truffles from love and zest. They are in the top right picture.
The last one is the New York Times chocolate chip cookies these are from Food & Fun in te Hudson Valley and Beyond. They are on the bottom ride of the photo. I have made this recipe before my self.
I have had such fun with the cookie swap. I hope the everyone enjoyed this as much as I did? What fun to go to the mail box and get a box of cookies from someone you do not know. You get to learn all about 6 new bloggers you have never met or followed before….fun…..fun! I love it and look forward to next year! Thanks girls and I wish each and everyone a very Merry Christmas!
