Okay I am almost embarrassed to post this ~ REALLY
These are so easy and so stinking yummy!! We use to have them at church dinners back when I was a kid remember these ole things heee heee I do! Well, see I bought so much 7-Up to make pound cakes and those coconut cakes. I had it around and thought oh what the heck sounds good and easy lets try them once again. I thought it will be a good way to use up all this 7-Up so I made them and oh dear me they are as good as I remembered really good ~ no kidding and they are the easiest things in the world to make! REALLY!
7 Up Biscuits
4 cups Bisquick
1 cup sour cream
1 cup 7-up
1/2 cup melted butter
Melt butter and put and place in a baking pan
cut sour cream into the Bisquick
Then add one cup 7-up. ***Do not add a whole 7up!
mix in and dump on a well floured surface ~ I used parchment paper, makes clean up easy
then I pat out just with my hand or roll out about 1 inch thick
flour your cutter each time before cutting your biscuits. Once you cut your biscuits add to your pan with the butter.
Bake at 425 until golden brown 20 to 25 minutes enjoy ~ see those boys got to them before I even got a picture WOW ~
Mom here is a half recipe for you~
2 cups bisquick
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup 7-up
1/4 cup melted butter
Easy Homemade Biscuits Recipe — powered by ehow
These biscuits looked so good & easy to make I had to try them the same day I read your e-mail.
They were delicious straight out of the pan. Then I decided they would make a perfect upside down chicken pot pie. I mixed cooked chicken & all the fresh veggies I like (corn, onion, carrots & peas) together in chicken broth with some corn starch as thickener and poured it over a split biscuit. Try it, if you have any left over biscuits!
Keep the recipes coming! 🙂
Great…so glad you liked them!! I will try the chicken pot pie. Thanks dear!! xoxo
I found the recipe on facebook. I had never heard of 7up biscuits but when I made them I was shocked at how beautiful they were and how good they tasted. I love them.
Barbara…glad you enjoyed the 7 up biscuits. Wishing you a lovely day and happy baking! Angie
Something must be wrong with me. Everybody seemed to do it so simply. Mine was one big sticky wet mess, Floured my rolling pin and counter top. Would not roll out and stuck to my hands like glue. Somebody help me please!
Charlie….I would say you over worked your dough from the sound of things. I would place a good bit of flour on your work surface and dump your dough out, then place a good bit of flour on top of your dough. Pat the dough into a circle with you hands. Watch the video it will help…..Try again ~ K ya’ll get it this next time!
Or you did as I did and put the melted butter in the dough. They still turned out.
I call them sticky yummy biscuits… haha. I just plop the dough in the pan and score with a knife. WAY easier and delicious the same.
Thanks that is a much easier way for those having trouble with sticky dough. Smiles
Excellent Karla that’s what I do they do that at several restaurants the biscuits are not round they are Square
just drop them into yourmuffin tins….dropped biscuits, use a big spoon
i did not roll mine .I dropped them with a spoon . Worked well. Just smooth the edges with spoon shape like a biscuit.
It will be sticky but roll the dough in some dry flour and you will be ok.
mine was the same way so I had to add more bisquick til it was manageable…probably had to add another 1/2 to 3/4 cup to it to be able to pat it out.
Me too
You have to roll your wet doe in a little dry flour before rolling out biscuits
mine are always sticky too! I just drop them in large spoonfuls into the pan. they are easily separated once cooked, and it is actually quicker and easier 🙂
Hello Charlie. Be sure and flour your hands. You really don’t need a rolling pin. Hands are better, have flour on your counter or your cutting board, dump in on there and add a little light flour. Kneading only as much as needed. Your good to go.
Did you put the top part of the biscuit back on top of the veggie mix?
Can you use Jiffey baking mix instead of bisquick?
I have never used Jiffy brand baking mix…but, I would think you could. I have used pioneer brand before. I did not like it as much as the bisquick. Sorry….let me know how it turns out if you do.
Well we all loved them, they were better than any biscuits I have ever tried to make before. But since this is the first time with the sour cream and 7-up, I can’t compare the Jiffy mix to any of the others. I think I will try the Bisquick next time. Can’t wait to fix them for breakfast sometime!
Thank You!
Great….I am so glad they turned out for you!! Success! Thanks for letting me know they did work with the Jiffy brand. I have used their brownie mix when I was younger and loved it…but can not seem to find it any more? Have a lovely day and thanks for visiting my site!!
Jiffy mixes seem to be hard to find, especially the cake mixes. Ordered from Jiffy on line & received their baking book, very handy. Had mixes shpd to me.
I used self rising flour
How did they turn out when you used the self rising flour? And did you use the same amount that it calls for? Did you make any other changes to this recipe? Because I only have self rising flour and have been wanting to try this. Also all I have is either Diet 7 up or a can of Squirt and I am not sure how either one of those would work or turn out. Because I’m wondering if the Squirt would be a little too citrusy flavored and maybe the Diet 7 up might be a little too flat tasting ? And I was wondering if because it has those artificial sweeteners in it if that will affect the biscuits in any way?
You can make your own bis
quick – recipe is online. I even substituted butter for veggetsble oil in a pinch.
I saw your recipe yesterday and am making it for breakfast this morning…..they look delicious! My batter seemed a little soft, a little hard to handle I hoping they turn out as pretty as yours! Thanks for sharing!
Karen…I do hope they turned out. When I made them the 1st time I thought the very same thing….this is not going to work. These are too wet. They turned out great and have each time. I do fill the pan and place them close together. I do think they helps them rise and fluff up. I wish you success with them.
They did not fluff up at all 🙁 I’ll have to give it another shot.. the flavor was good.
awww I am sorry!!
Fresh Bisquick works the best. I tend to have Bisquick that’s been opened a couple of months and I’ll sometimes get flat biscuits because of that.
Thanks…Paul that is great to know!! We use it so fast around here. Does not have time to get old.
Paul, thank you! Mine didn’t rise nearly as well as they should have. Best get some fresh Bisquick mix! Otherwise these were scrumptious!
These biscuits need to be served at the Williams House for breakfast!
I hope the William’s enjoy them!!
I made with Sprite Zero cause thats all I had on hand. The four of us thought they were fantastic!!
Anne…glad they worked for you ~ see always give it a try some times you have a great winner! thanks for letting us know!
I have a batch of these in the oven now. Next time, I may add either less 7 up or more bisquick because my dough was a tad too sticky when I picked up my cut out biscuits.
I flour the work surface well and tops. I will say mine are very sticky as well and turn out just right! Moist and soft inside hope yours do as well!
Instead of rolling out the mixture. I put it directly into a pan that I sprayed with Pam then patted them, cut into squares with a pizza cutter, then I poured the melted butter over and topped with fresh sea salt. They turned out perfectly!
[…] They gave her so much grief, she deleted that pin, and found another recipe for 7.Up Biscuits at Angie’s Southern Kitchen. The only difference is that it is double the original recipe that Super Sister […]
Thanks Lana for the link…what an honor! You made my day!! Plus I found a new blog to follow!! “Yours” Thanks! Dear! Have a lovely day..smiles!
I just made these and they were GREAT!!!
Thanks Cassie…… thanks for commenting and letting us know!! Funny how 4 little things can turn out so yummy!! Thanks for visiting and please come on back soon! Happy Baking !
Finally, I can stop searching for a good biscuit recipe! These were easy to make and were delicious.
Crystal, I am so glad you liked them !! Thanks for visiting and letting us know you give them a thumbs up!!
I love them I use Canada Dry Gingerale in mine
I never use Bisquick. I usually make my biscuits and pancakes from scratch. But I’ve heard so many people saying how great these biscuits are, I’m going to give them a try. I was just wondering whether you’ve ever heard of anyone trying to replicate these biscuits by combining the sour cream and 7-Up with a home-made recipe and leaving out the Bisquick?
Shane…I have 2 other recipes for biscuits from scratch not using bisquick. Southern Buttermilk Biscuits and Angie’s Pork Pops try one of those if you are not crazy about using bisquick. Go up to the top and there is a cookbook section in pick click on it and go to breads and you will see other recipes. But, I will say you will be surprised at how good they are with 4 ingredients and how easy they are. Thanks for visiting and let us know which ones you try and what you think ~ have a lovely day!!
Yes, I used self rising flour instead of Bisquick and the biscuits worked just fine. Cut a little shortening or butter into the SR flour if you want. I don’t think I even did that. I also always add a little extra baking powder to the SR flour.
Just an FYI. After I stirred this together, I thought this is just too wet. So I looked at the Bisquick box and they mentioned just plopping them in a pan. I made a quarter of this recipe and plopped 4 biscuits into a 9 x 9 pan. They didn’t raise up nice and fluffy, but they were awesome! As long as it’s for family. I will plop, plop away! Biscuits are in the oven in an instant.
Can I pre-make the dough and put it in the fridge to bake later in the day?
Kim, seriously, there is no need to pre-make them. It literally just takes less than 2 minutes to stir together and throw them in the oven.
I just generously coat them with flour on bottom and top and that seems to help try that!
About how long before they are “golden brown” I can’t ever seem to get things right unless I get a time estimate. 🙂
I would say about 12-15 minutes would be golden ~ My oven cooks so much hotter than most. Hope you enjoy them!!
Should you use flat 7-UP? I am thinking that you need the bubbles in this recipe? Anna
Anna…you do need the bubbles to help make them rises and make them light and fluffy.
im about to put them in the oven .WOW they were so easy hope the taste as good as they look ……thanks for the recipe ….
You are so welcome ~ I hope you love them! Thanks for visiting and please come back and try other recipes! Please let us know what you think of them!
I made these biscuits this past weekend, they were great! Very easy and moist.
Fran…thanks for posting and letting us know you made them and like them it is always so, so good to hear from you all. Thanks for visiting ! Have a lovely day!
Mine did not fluff up at all !!!! So disappointed!!
I am sorry ~ is your bisquick fresh? Some times if it is older I have been told it will not rise?
I made these tonight, I didn’t have any sour cream so I used plain Greek yogurt instead. They turned out great, and are probably a little healthier : ) Thanks for the delicious recipe!
Wow, Sarah that is a great idea!! We love Greek yogurt here at this house. Think I will try that one too. Thanks for letting us know. Have a lovely day!
I’ll be trying these tomorrow! I do the cooking for our church and we have a dinner coming up and I’ve decided on a “Breakfast dinner”. These would be perfect!
Ohhhh my GOODNESS!!! I made these last night – they were amazing! Not only were they ridiculously easy to make (and quick!!), they came out perfectly! Even the picky, biscuit-snob boyfriend approved. I made a half batch – he only left me two! THANK YOU for giving me my new quick, go-to biscuit!
Beth…so glad you both enjoyed them so fun when you make something and it comes out just as you wanted. Even better when it is so stinking easy huh!! Glad you visited come back soon! Enjoy your day!
What size pan did you use? And what size biscuit cutter?
Mara ~
Biscuit cutter = 2 1/2
Pan size 10.5 X 14.75 pyrex or anchor glass pan
Thanks hope this helps ~ let us know how they come out !! Enjoy!
What size pan and biscuit cutter did you use?
I have just finished eating 3 of these biscuits right in a row. They are SO good!!! I used a biscuit mix that I bought at a bulk store, and a no name sprite/7 up type of pop. My dough was sticky but I had read the comments and knew that was to be expected. I just made sure my parchment paper was well floured and floured my hands regularly as I spread out the dough. I used a glass as my biscuit cutter as I’ve never made biscuits at home before, so never needed one. The glass worked fine as long as I kept it floured as well.
I have NO complaints about these biscuits at all. They fluffed up nicely and they taste so good. I may need to go out and buy myself a biscuit cutter after this. 🙂
Thanks for the super easy and super yummy recipe!!
Hi…Kim!! So glad you enjoyed them ~ that is the fun part of cooking, just be a little willing to do your own thing and so many of the times it does come out better than you thought it would! Thanks for letting us know about your batch of non~7up biscuits heee heee ! Angie!!
Mine turned out perfect. A confirmed bachelor, I cut the receipe in half and used Canada Dry Ginger Ale. Teriffic! Melted the butter in the baking dish, then poured the butter in a cup. After putting biscuits in the buttered baking dish, drizzled remaining butter over the top. Used Pioneer Brand baking mix and really hovered around the oven watching them. Set oven to 400 degrees.
Great Ron….so glad you had success! I love the pioneer brand and use it more often than bisquick to be honest. Great fun when you have success! Thanks for letting us know. Thanks for visiting and come back soon. Have a lovely day….smiles Angie
Tried these with the GF Bisquick and I had to modify… 2 Cups GF Bisquick, 3/4 Cup sour cream, ! Cup 7-UP… melted butter in the pan the same, and I baked them @425 for 25 to 30 min. or until golden brown… not bad, not bad at all… and since I have not had biscuits in about 3 years, they were darn good!;)
*! is supposed to be ‘1’ cup 7-UP
Barbara ~ glad you enjoyed them! They are fast and easy!! I have a version for my mom at the bottom screen ~
Mom here is a half recipe for you~
2 cups bisquick
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup 7-up
1/4 cup melted butter
They do not need as many as we eat here, most don’t hee heee
Thanks for stopping by and so happy you enjoyed them, please come back soon ! Hope you have a great evening !! Angie
MMMM THESE ARE SO GOOD AND EASY TOOOO!!!
Yea!!! Julian, so glad you enjoyed them! Thanks for letting us know ! Have a lovely day!
These are the most easy biscuits to make and they are beyond delicious!!! My whole family loves them. Thanks so much for sharing 🙂 I also made my first batch with homemade Bisquick which is also much cheaper.
Doris ~ great! I am so glad y’all enjoyed them…great when something is easy and wonderful! I have used a home made bisquick mix before too! Thanks for reminding me! Thanks for stoping by and letting us know! Come back and visit again ! Happy Thanksgiving to you! Smiles!
I have trouble with my hands, I was wondering if they would come out okay if I used my mixer to cut the sour cream into the bisquick. I would love to make these for Thanksgiving. I can’t wait to try these.
Shellie, if you have an old fashion pastry cutter that would work or a just a fork. I think a mixer would over do it. If you did use the mixer, you would have to be very careful not to over work your dough. On the lowest setting and on and off like a short bit . You want it to be just like peas not completely mixed in. I wish you great success and I do hope you and your family has a wonderful Thanksgiving! Smiles…let me know how they come out ! smiles!!
All I can say is WOW!! No possible way 3 little items can make anything so delicious. I was gonna use my mixer to cut in the sour cream, but my arthritis wasn’t so bad this morning so I broke out the pastry cutter and went at it. I just called my husband and told him to bring me another box of bisquick, the one recipe’s worth is not gonna do it for tomorrow. Thanks you so much. Now if I can just stop myself from eating too many myself. “s”
Shellie…Great I am so happy they turned out for you and you all liked the biscuits. Thanks for coming back and letting us know you enjoyed them, you have made my day! Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Angie, just made these for dinner, with sausage gravy. I thought I had died and gone to heaven:) I have tried many, many biscuit recipes in my many years of cooking and never, ever had any kind of success with them. Biscuits have always hated me, they wouldn’t rise, were too hard, like hockey pucks. But these turned out super and I was so happy. Thank you so much!
I just made a triple batch and they are so yummy. I used healthy biscuit, light sour cream and diet 7 up and they were still great. Can’t imagine how they would be with extra fat and calories. I used a small cup to cut them and then a spatula to remove from parchment paper to baking dish. Yum Yum!
Melissa, glad you had luck cutting the fat and sugar on these. My mom will have to try it this way too her sugar is high these days and she is having to cut as much as she can…thanks for letting us know! Smiles and have a lovely day!!
Wilhelmina…I am so happy you had success and they are a hit at your house! I just love it when someone loves a recipe I have shared! Sounds yum with sausage gravy oh my yum! Thanks!!
The next time I bake these I think I might brown the butter a little in my black cast iron frying pan and then add the biscuits and bake them. I bet that will work even better if that is possible. Can’t wait to try this.:)
Wilhelmina….I cut the recipe in half and did just this ~ not on purpose, put the skillet on the stove top to melt the butter went a little to long and wal la and said hey what the heck I am just going to bake them in the skillet and wow yum! Got a little more crusted on the bottom but never the less wonderful ! Enjoy!! Thanks for such sweet kind words
A friend’s daughter tried this recipe yesterday and they were yummy. She and I were wondering if anyone has tried freezing them before cooking? It would be great to make up a bunch and freeze for busy school mornings.
Steph ….These are so soft and fluffy ~ for the science part I would be on the side of saying do not think they would rise up nice and fluffy like they do if you make a whole batch. But, I love the try and see method on almost everything I do and many times things do work. I do have other biscuit recipes like pork pops that are great, great make ahead …freeze biscuits. Please try and let us know if it does work…thanks for visiting ~ Merry Christmas to you!
These biscuits were great. Reminds me of the ones my grandmother used to make. I made them to eat with Turkey Noodle soup the day after Christmas…and my family has raved about them. So quick and easy. I will never keep canned biscuits as a go to staple again. These are just too easy to make. Thanks for a great recipe.
Joy….So happy you tried them and liked them. Thanks for coming back and letting us know!! Isn’t it fun when some thing is so easy and yet so yummy ! Happy New Year to you and your family !!
I just found the recipe. How long do I bake them? It says ‘until golden brown’ but I would like something more specific than that, please.
Jane ……for 12 -15 minutes! Hope you enjoy them!! Smiles!
Thank you, Angie! I am fixing them tonight! 🙂
Thank you, Angie. I am fixing them tonight.
Jane ~ Hope they turn out wonderful…let us know what cha think. smiles and happy baking!
I wanted to present this particular article, “7-up
Biscuits | How to Make 7-Up Biscuits Photo and Recipes |” with my personal buddies on facebook itself.
Ijust simply needed to distributed ur tremendous publishing!
Many thanks, Keisha
My story:
I had a boat load of produce from my co-op. There were rainbow carrots, bags of taters, leeks. Fine fixin’s for the start of a soup. I picked up some sausage, and kale to go along with the fun and threw a soup in a pot. Unfortunately I forgot to buy some compressed biscuits in a can (you see, these are the only biscuits I am skilled enough to make) I sat here (already undressed from my outing because who wears jeans if they can wear pajama pants??) contemplating getting redressed to go get some biscuits, and perusing Pinterest whilst my soup bubbled away making my house air tasty. I saw a recipe, 4 ingredient biscuits it said, BEST I’ve ever made said the caption. I clicked, hopeful. No link! At this moment I had to have the mystery biscuits. My search led here. I fought with myself but then said “SELF! You can give it one more try, it’s gotten so may pins, let’s do this” End of story. FREAKING AMAZING BISCUITS!! Thanks 😀
Sunshyne, I am so glad you tried the 7up biscuits!! I do hope you will try other things on the site too! Thanks for coming back and letting me know, I love hearing from readers. That is what makes it worth while is the fun stories from the readers. The soup sounds wonderful! We all love soup at our house! Thanks and Smiles Angie!
A women made these for a church dinner and they were an instant hit .Everyone wanted the recipe. I made them for a dinner we had for our neighbors.I know it was ther favorit.part of the meal..When they saw me make them, they coulden’t believe how easy it was to make I.don’t use a cookie cutter. I just cut the dough in squares. this makes it even easier, no waste to deal with..I will be making them for Easter for my family. We may have a new family tradition. They are soooo delicous.
thanks for the recipe.
Ruth…thanks dear! I am so glad you and your family liked them. Easy and wonderful an instant hit in my book ! I make them in squares too some of the time. We have had many conversations at our house about square biscuits my dad says that is “Just Wrong”……does not matter the shape to me…cause it is like you say there is no waste and they taste the same. Told him to close his eyes and enjoy does not matter yum is yum square or round….smiles, Angie
cant wait to try the 7-up biscuits
I made some 7-up biscuits, the first time; they didn’t look much like a biscuit, but the taste was good. I made another batch tonight, turned out pretty good, and they even looked like a biscuit. Lol
These Biscuits came out perfectly. They are soft and great tasting. I made them for a friend that requested me make them for him. I believe he is going to be very happy with the results. They came out exactly as they did in the photo. I will certainly be making these again.
Dawn….great, I am so happy you guys are happy with the Biscuits! It is always exciting to hear a recipe turned out for a reader and they enjoyed their results ! YEA Success !! Thanks for returning and letting me know, makes it all worth while to hear positive feed back! Thanks and have a lovely day!! Angie
Today I am making them again but double layering them and between the layers I am adding chopped up bacon and cheese.
Dawn….Oh goodness that sounds Deelightful! Please let us know what you think of them cuz that sounds yumO. Might have to try that one my self!
Everyone loved them with the bacon and cheese. But, they must be eaten hot out of the over or the cheese gets hard. But hot out of the oven. They cleaned the plate !
Dawn…thanks for letting us know. They sound amazing with the bacon and cheese. I think I will try mixing them in with the bisquick then add the sour cream and 7up. I have another biscuit recipe on the blog, pork pops that are made that way. Thanks for the update ~ Smiles and happy baking!
Max….so glad you stuck with it and your persistence paid off for you. I bet if you make them one more time yours will look better than mine. Keep us posted on your progress. Happy baking…smiles Angie
These were super easy and super tasty! Thanks for a great recipe that my whole family loved 🙂
Michele, Thanks so happy you all liked them. Thanks for visiting and hope you come back again and try another recipe. smiles….
I have made these several times and they have been perfect every time! Thank you for this recipe. I use Pioneer instead of Bisquick. Perfect every time. Yummy!
I am so glad you enjoyed them…yea!! I love Pioneer products, I have even been to their plant years ago. Glad to know it works just as well. I love their beignet mix oh goodness yummo ! Thanks for visiting!
where can i find the sour cream? 🙂 thanks!
@sara ~ it should be in the diary section of your grocery store. In mine it is by the yogurt and milk. Best of luck let us know what cha think.Happy baking!
best recipes ever,
awwww thank you!! Smiles and happy baking!! Angie
Just waiting for these to bake!
Yummy!!! Yummy!!! is all I can say.
I just made these and the are unbelievable… After reading all the comments I had to make them. One thing I did was make sure they were not too big I got 20 biscuits in the 9×13 baking dish and they were side by side no room to move them. Will be making these often!!!
Diana….so glad you like them and you had success ! Happy Baking and please come back and try another recipe. Smiles and hope to see ya real soon….Angie
I made these for the first time with light sour cream (I’d gotten it by mistake) and they were delicious – especially with honey! I used Pioneer brand instead of Bisquick and floured the waxed paper and top of the dough as I patted it and never had to flour the biscuit cutter. I highly recommend this recipe!
Thanks Sue!! Thanks for the wonderful recommendations! Have a wonderful day !! Happy Baking! Angie
Anybody every try cooking these in a cast iron dutch oven?
Darrell…I have and it does work beautifully ! Try it and let us know what you think. I have a huge one and love using it….but many people do not have those so ~ I used a more common pan. I bake the New York bread in it too love it! Happy Baking~ Angie
7up7 bu biscuits
Looks like a great recipe
easy and good.
Looking forward to more of your excellent re, thank you:-) cipes
Yum
did not work for me and I don’t know what I did wrong. I wanted to try this receipe because I CANNOT make these things anyway you can name. guess I will stick to pop-ups.
Nancy….I do have a video on the site now that shows this step by step if you want to try again and follow along. Thanks, Angie
Linda, this is the biscuits I made while at Mom’s. I did it wrong but they still turned out to be the lightest and fluffiest biscuits I have ever had. LOVED THEM.
http://angiessouthernkitchen.com/2012/06/7-up-biscuits/
These are off the chain a must try
Connie….Wow thanks!! Glad you liked them what could be better easy and great ~ Right? Thanks have a great day !!! Smiles Angie
Forget cutting circles. Just cut the dough to the number of squares you want to make and place them in the pan. They end up square anyway and no waste. And believe me you don’t want to waste any of these yummy biscuits.
That is a great idea and you are right they do end up square in the end….Thanks!! Angie
I didn’t have Bisquick mix so I googled how to make it and tried a full recipe but that is too many so next time I have enough for a half batch. They were very good, everyone in my family agrees they are similar to KFC biscuits but fluffier. FYI Biscquick recipe: 6 C. Flour, 1 T Salt, 3 T Baking Powder mixed together then cut in 1 C Crisco, put it in airtight container in fridge, use as needed.
Great Christine !!! I will try this next time! Thanks for adding the homemade Bisquick recipe! Glad your family enjoyed them!! Have a lovely day and happy baking…Angie
I made these last night and they were awesome! I also made them with Jiffy brad as that is what I had. Also a little note.. I made Half of them and added shredded sharp white cheddar and a lil dash of garlic powder.. then brushed the tops with butter and Mrs Dash herbs. Better than Red Lo8$t3R
Trent ~ Thanks for the great idea! I put Cheddar Cheese in mine last time and it was great. Thanks for visiting and commenting great to hear from readers ~ Have a great day! Smiles Angie
Thank you so much for the step by step directions and pictures!! I am definitely going to try these!!!!
Nancy, you are so welcome….I hope you enjoy them! Happy Baking! Angie
angie, these biscuits are delicious! someone sent me a recipe on facebook for biscuits were you pour after biscuits are in dish you pour 7-up around them into bowl, i haven’t been able to find it, do you have any ideas about this recipe? thanks, peggy
@peggy booher ~ Peggy I will keep my eye open for the recipe and by posting it here someone may post it for us. Thanks for the kind words and I’ll let cha know if I come across your request ~ K have a lovely day…Angie
Angie, I made this recipe with great ease. The biscuits were fluffy, moist and tender. I made 18 of them and they are really good reheated in the microwave. There are just 2 of us but, trust me, we’re doing serious damage to these wonderful biscuits! Thanks!!!!!
Lana…so glad you enjoyed them! They are good and easy too….thanks for the kind words and thanks for visiting ~ Hope to see you back soon. Have a wonderful day…Angie
I thought these turned out wonderfully! Since the recipe was on my computer and I just remembered the basic steps, I did not follow exact directions. I did not cut the sour cream in, just dumped in sour cream and 7-up and mixed with spatula. I kneaded the dough a little and patted out then cut it into 12 pieces with a plastic knife. I balled up each piece and placed it into the melted butter in a 13 X 9 pan. So for not following the directions, they turned out great! Nice and fluffy and golden brown. My Bisquick wads kind of old but I keep it in the refrigerator so it seems to stay a lot fresher that way. Very yummy biscuits!
Danita…Yea, glad they worked out for you and you liked them. Love hearing that someone changed the rules and they still came out !! YEA! I do that sort of thing all the time ~ that is what makes cooking fun ! Happy baking ~ smiles Angie
They were awesome, end of story!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
They were awesome, end of story!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Marybeth….thanks!! smiles….and happy baking, Angie
I Didn’t have 7-up used Mikes hard lemonade and also low fat bisquick. Turned out fabulous!
Jacki…hummmm what a combo ~ but I can see how that would work ! Thanks for letting us know, fun to bend the rules and have the recipe still be wonderful. Hey, that is how I have come up with some of the best recipes. Thanks, Angie
Angie, can you tell me about how many the full recipe makes? I need something easy and tasty for a wedding shower for 75 guests. With only two weeks to plan, this looks like just the ticket!
Suzanne…this recipe will make 24 so you could ~ make 4 batches and it would be enough. They are easy….best served hot. I hope your shower is a great success. Angie
I absolutely love these and so does my husband!!! I will NEVER lose
this recipe!!!!!!!!!!
June…thanks!! Happy baking and come back and visit soon! Smiles Angie
I was wondering was this a sweet biscuit? Or is it a salty, sweet, buttery or maybe i should just say is it something you eat with a stew or maybe with your coffee/tea just wondering b4 I make it thanks
Melissa ~ these are a buttery great with a stew biscuit!
Enjoy,
Angie
I had been searching for a good recipe for biscuits when I tied these and they are delicious. But of course we know when we eat biscuits they are an absolute indulgence so once in a while is plenty. But I wanted to see if it was possible to re-imagine this simple and delicious recipe to be a tiny bit healthier. So here’s what I did. I bought a Bob’s Multigrain pancake and waffle mix, used my homemade yogurt instead of sour cream and used some lemon lime essence sparkling water from my soda stream. The results were fantastic! The biscuits still were fluffy and delicious and crunchy on the bottom but with a bit more taste and texture. My family loved them and I will certainly do them this way again.
Angel….Thanks, that is great to know. I think I will be trying adding sparkling water myself! Thanks for sharing !
Angie
I made different fractions of this recipe, and all came out great. Also, I do chuckwagon cooking, so I tried these in a camp cast iron dutch oven. Piece of cake. Everything has worked so far.
Weston, Great so glad you had such success. I bet they are even better in a cast iron dutch oven…yum! Thanks and happy baking!
Angie

Mary….Thanks for visiting and I do hope you love them as much as we do! Smiles and Happy Baking ~ Angie
at 91 years old, i m trying to learn how to cook, and bake
Jack….good for you!! It is never to late to start a new hobby! I hope they turn out amazing !! welcome and please stop by again soon….Angie
I just made these and took some over to my Mom’s house and told her to call me with her “honest” opinion of how they taste….OMG ….I could just barely understand what she was saying because she was smacking so loud. She loved them. Thank you so much. My search is over.
Irean…thanks and thanks for sharing the love! Glad you liked them and thanks a bunch for coming back and letting us know ~ makes my day ! Thanks and happy baking! Angie
I like the recipes
These were so easy to make and tasted delicious….
Thanks…..glad you guys liked them ! Thanks for letting us know always good to know this recipe is still being used and loved ! Angie
Can I use pancake mix instead of bisquick?
Lux…..many of the mixes are pretty much a like, I would give it a try. I know Pioneer you can. I have had many readers have great luck with it. Let us know how it works out. Thanks!
I didn’t see you use the 7up on the video. Am I wrong?
Ronnie, Some times the film crew cuts little things out to save time. But, I assure you the 7-Up is in there or they would not turn out. There is several different versions of videos each being a little different. One has cheese, one bacon and cheese. Thanks…hope you enjoy them.
Biscuits turn out very well.
these biscuits were the best I have ever tasted. had gone to another site for the recipe, but failed. yours was perfect. thank you!!
Sharon…awww thanks !! Thanks for coming back and letting us know you had success! YEA!! I love it when readers have success…please try other recipes ~ Happy Thanksgiving to you!! Smiles Angie
Can you use Krusteaz pancake mix?
Vera,
I am sorry, I have never used Krusteaz brand? I would sure give it a try…I know many have had luck with many other brands…Please come back and let us know how it works ~ Thanks and happy baking…smiles Angie
I ONLY use Krusteaz!
and I form them into a rectangle–score them into 12 biscuits–then lift them into the pan.
I don’t mess with a cutter.
I liked the biscuits you do need to use some extra flower or baking mix when rolling them out . The next time I think I’ll add some herbs and garlic. I was even thinking of a sweet version with a vanilla soda for breakfast or strawberry short cakes?
Nancy…thanks that is a great idea! Let me know how they turn out I will have to try that fur sure! Thanks!! Angie
I use the Krusteaz mix(sifted) on the counter instead of flour.
Jo…thanks! I am sure that is better than just plain ole four.
Can you make these ahead of time? I want to make them Christmas morning and I am cooking so many other things I would like to bake them most of the way the night before. Have you ever tried to make them ahead? Or have you frozen them?
Mavis….I am sorry to say not sure they would turn out as well. They get a lot of their fluffiness from the bubbles in the 7 up and that would not chemically work I am afraid. I know it is a lot of work to do it all at the last minute ~ I have a roll recipe and it is more work than these but they are amazing worth every bit of extra time. You can make the dough at least a day ahead roll the rolls out put plastic wrap on them place in the refrigerator till you are ready to bake. Pull out 2 hours before you want to make them, take plastic off let them come to room temperature and rise doing nothing…nothing other than placing them in the oven for 15 – 20 minutes. They make great sandwiches….look and see if you think you can make those I promise they will be such a hit !!
I don’t see that she put the up in…….
Angie, the video does not show you adding the 7 up, But I imagine you did. I made this last nite from another identical recipe, but it called for kneading which was almost impossible. Anyway, I finally managed it and they came out a little thin but very tasty. I will make again following your instructions.
Chony, I do add the 7 up, I promise. I do talk about this in earlier comments. Ehow does the filming for me and editing. I do not have any control over this part sorry. I do add a good bit of flour on the work surface and on top of the dough. I do make mine rather thick too. Kneading will make them rather tough so do not over work your dough. Hope you enjoy them. They are quick, easy and great. Thanks Angie
THESE SOUND GREAT; JUT NEED TO GET 7-UP…
My doctor told me to gain some weight, and these biscuits will definitely help me do that lol
Thank you for this great recipe! The biscuits are super delicious. They started turning golden brown only 30 minutes later, though, do you know why they took so long to bake?
Aizhan…..Thanks, glad you liked the biscuits!! Your oven may cook slower. I have a professional oven and it cooks hot and fast…sounds like a song. Heee heee Have you had your oven calibrated? It may not be heating up to 425 ? Just a thought ? Have a lovely day….cold and snowy here….brrrr
Well yeah I guess my oven is weird, sometimes it cooks faster, other times it’s slow lol
Anyway, I will definitely be making these again soon.
Thank you! Hope you have a nice day too.
7up Biscuts
Please tell me how I can print the 7up biscuit recipe I have a wireless printer and I don’t see a print area on the recipe Thank You Lucy
Lucille….There is a Gray print button on top of the 1st picture it is the 4th from the left…..see it? Another way is to go to file then print on your drop down menu ~ hope this helps? Have a great day! Thanks for visiting Angie
I love this site!
Susan…awww thanks!!! You made my day!!!
Angie
Maybe I rolled the biscuits out thinner, but had quite a bit of dough left after filling the 9×13 pan. I used the extra dough and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, rolled and sliced it to make cinnamon rolls. Top while warm with some confectioner sugar icing and both pans were delicious! I texted the pictures to sisters and daughters and they all wanted the recipe.
@Valerie Smith ….That sounds yummy! I do have mine rather thick. Bet the cinnamon sugar is good on them! Thanks….Angie
Can’t wait to try!!!!!
good
This biscuits are amazing! I understand what is meant by the dough being
very soft but they were still fantastic!
Lisa, thanks for the kind words….everyone loves these! Easy and great! Happy Baking…smiles,
Angie
Best ever…You have got to try these…
Janis….thanks dear!!
Angie
bigger batch
I made half recipe for the fam this evening. All said it was THE best biscuits they’ve had. Next time, I’ll make the full recipe 🙂 Only problem I had was totally my fault. I didn’t flour my counter top as well as I should’ve. Since this is such a wet and flimsy dough, that is an imperative step. Because of that, I just made them drop biscuits, no biggie. They didn’t raise as well as I thought they would. I tried so hard not to over work my dough but they were still great. No complaints here 🙂 <3
Angel….Thanks so glad you guys enjoyed them. I do use a lot of flour on the counter on this recipe. Hope the next batch you love them even more! Happy Baking ! Angie
I tried them and they were delicious
Edgar…Thanks, I am so glad you enjoyed them. Smiles….
Biscuits were delicious. My 15 year old daughter said “they were the bomb, keep the recipe”. My husband doesn’t like sour cream and he ate 3. I guess I’ll be keeping the recipe. Thanks for sharing it.
Shannon, thanks for the great feed back. I am glad the family gives them the thumbs up! Happy Baking and Wishing you all a Great 4th! smiles, Angie
You can skip the rolling and cutting of this recipe by patting the dough into the bottom of the pan and cutting them before baking(deep score works too). bake and run a knife down your score lines to separate. this also leaves no wasted dough.
Michelle….that is a GREAT idea! Will save time and no waste, thanks for sharing! Happy 4th to you and your family! Smiles….Angie
Ok, great success with this: put all dough straight out of mixing bowl right into a gallon Ziploc bag. With scissors, cut about a one inch diagonal corner off the bottom of the bag. Pipe 4 piles of dough on one short side of the pan, using the scissors to cut the dough off evenly. Continue the rows across the pan. Uniform biscuits, no mess, no kneading! They rise like a dream!!
These are The Best
Good recipe for 7 UP biscuits, but you left out the 7 up in your video
John…Thanks but t it was cut in the edit sorry. I do not make or edit the ehow videos they do all that. Glad you enjoyed them happy baking!
These look amazing and easy. Need to make.
Well they are in the oven wish me luck !! Lots of people say it’s a mess to make. I didn’t find it bad at all.
@Bernice Breaux ~ Good luck hope everyone enjoys them! Happy Baking
These are wonderful! I sub Greek yogurt for sour cream.
I use these as biscuits for Strawberry Shortcake, soooo perfect!
Do you know what the calories are for 1 biscuit is?
Jennifer….thanks !
I will have to try the greek yogurt, sounds great. Sorry, I do not know the calories for this …I am sure it is best we don’t know? Just eat one right? Angie
I saw this on a friends FB and got the fixin’s yesterday, made them today and they are to die for..!! The story goes, you can’t eat just one..!! After I made and ate for lunch, I found this recipe by Googling it.. You just have to try it…I used every thing low cal, probably didn’t help… lol
I mix mine in my kitchenaide mixer then fold a little dry flour in with them so they not sticky and roll them out and cut them with a juice glass and put in my buttered pan 20 min. you eating biscuits. We make them all time.
Fantastic recipe. I messed up the first time I made them and put the butter into the dough mixture, which made them VERY sticky but I persisted and added more bis quick as I kneaded the dough until I could cut it. Did they turn out?? Yup, absolutely delicious. I don’t recommend how I did it, but the point is they still turned out amazing. Doing them again tonight. The right way.
I don’t see a time anywhere. How many minutes to bake? Mine was a sticky mess too!!
@null Diana….about 20-25 minutes. enjoy
Sounds easy.
could i make the biscuits with diet 7-up?
Divya, I have had others tell that have used diet 7 up and they turned out fine? Let us know how they come out for you? Angie
Made with low fat plain yogurt and seltzer water came out great!
Paula,
Great to know, Thanks!
Enjoy, Angie
What if I dont have sour cream or yogurt, what can I use as a substitute? Would cottage cheese work?
Judy, I have never tried cottage cheese not sure it would work not sure it is enough liquid maybe if you add a little milk. If you try it come back and tell us your results…happy baking,
Angie
TRY THEM
Thanks…. Eloise, I am glad you liked them!!
Have a lovely day Angie
7 up biscuits
If it came out sticky and wouldn’t roll out you did what we did: used a whole can of 7up not 1 cup of 7 up. However we cooked it like cornbread and it still turned out ok!!! Guess you can’t ruin bisquick!
JJ, thanks for the info, I know a lot of folks have had trouble with this so you have solved the problem. I am going to add that instruction one more time that it is one cup. thanks, Angie
I like reading an article that can make men and women think.
Also, thank you for permitting me to comment!
Looks good
Would love to have at Thanksgiving but not sure how I would do it. We all go to one house but don’t eat for at least an hour after and there is no room in the kitchen there to make them.
I made these 7 up biscuits twice and followed the directions by the letter. But for some reason the bottom of the biscuits will not get brown. They are kinda soggy on tje bottom
Sandra, I would try turning your temperature up in your oven 25 degrees. This may solve your problem.
Believe or not, substituted Fresca for the 7up (I used Ginger Ale in past) and they still came out very delicious. They were gone before the pan made it to the table. Also, I didn’t drop or cut the biscuits: hand patted dough out in pan with melted butter and then after baking, cut. Best ever.
It was a big goopy mess! Hoping somehow they will turn out. Yes I followed to the T. Lots and lots of extra flour. Don’t understand how anyone can cut a bisquit out of the soupy mixture!
Judi…Question how much 7 up did you use?
So, I made this biscuits Sunday. They were tasty and made lots but they actually took longer to make than my usual biscuit recipes because they are so gooey to work with. If I ever make them again, I will try dropping them into a muffin pan.
I am going t try this week. I am going to try Fresca as that is what I have.. Has anyone else ever used Fresca??? and from your posts, I think I am going to use Muffin tins.. what do you think?
I have a cousin that used to make these all the time they are great; glad to have the recipe Thanks
These biscuits are delicious and easy to make!
Can you use sprite instead?
Heidi, yes you can use Sprite….enjoy
[…] 7-Up Biscuits – Even though buying sour cream might have been a stretch, I had to include this recipe because, well, because they’re 7-Up Biscuits! Whoda thunk it?http://www.angiessouthernkitchen.com/2012/06/7-up-biscuits/ […]
Made these a few weeks ago, but instead of patting them out I just poured the mixture into the pan on top of the butter and spread them as best I could.mthey came out pitch perfect and humongous! Will definitely make again!
I’m going to try these 7-up biscuits
Great biscuits!
Why so much butter? There has to be a way to make biscuits and reduce the fat and cholesterol. I am new to living in the US and I find a lot of restaurants serve biscuits…but they are just saturated with butter you can almost squeeze it out. I like them but can’t have a hard time eating 1 whole biscuit because of the fat.
Ricki, each recipe has different taste and has different amounts of fat. This is one recipe that happens to have a large amount of butter. I have several on the site that have other fats and smaller amounts. This recipe is easy and fast but has a lot of butter. They are really good….if you have ever had them you will see why so many like them. Easy…fast….not much work and tasty. Biscuits typically do have a fair amount of fat. Hope this explains compared to other breads yes many biscuits are loaded with fat. Angie
Judy’s Biscuits
7up biscuips
Getting ready to make these now.
I got lazy and decided I didn’t want to make a mess by rolling it out. I dumped the whole thing in my baking dish, buttered my hands and patted the dough out; then a took a very sharp knife and cut the dough into squares. Baked as directed. They came out beautiful! Looked just the same as the picture you posted. Thanks for sharing your recipe. Best biscuits ever!
Kim, thanks that is great to know they will work without rolling out! I am so glad you enjoyed them. Thanks for visiting …wishing you a lovely day, Angie
Yummy
can I use another clear soda, like Sierra Mist???
Nikki, I am sure you can, many others have tried different carbonated sodas and have raved about the outcome. Enjoy…cooking is about the adventure, Angie
This recipe sounds so easy and I decided to make it for a pot luck I am attending this weekend. Can it be made ahead of time and taken to the hostess’s home to be baked? Just wondering if it would deteriorate if not baked right away.
Jackie, I have never made them ahead to bake later so I am sorry I am not much help here. I know they get most of the fluff from the carbonated drink. These are one item that is best right out of the oven so baking ahead and then taking not a great idea. Try it and let us know, Wishing you great success …..smiles, Angie
You’very got to try these! Scroll all the way down for the 1/2 recipe.
[…] inspired by: http://www.angiessouthernkitchen.com/2012/06/7-up-biscuits/ […]
Emily, Thanks for sharing the recipe! Hope everyone loves it….wishing you a lovely spring day, Angie
I’ve been looking for a good biscuit recipes for over forty yrs and wasted a lots of ingredients. I finally found one here, that I like better than any recipes or ones i bought. Thank you
Iva, Wow what a wonderful compliment. I am so glad you enjoyed the biscuits. Happy Baking ! thanks…Angie
What can i substitute for dour cream if i dont have?
I have 7up
Cristina, not sure I have always used sour cream, maybe yogurt or cream cheese or creme fresh ? Smiles, Angie
I made those they were delicious. Thanks
Great
These are delicious, although I did have some trouble with my dough consistency. It was very thin and runny, more like cake batter than bread dough and impossible to roll out or cut. I ended up pouring the “batter” into the pan and then cutting it into squares like brownies after it had baked. Not the prettiest biscuits but they do taste amazing.
Shea….sorry but sounds if maybe you added the whole 7-up hummm, should not be that runny. Glad they tasted good. Smiles, Angie
It looks like a lot of people have runny batters. in the photo it looks like a dry measure is used for the 7-up and not a liquid measuring cup?
THESE WERE AMAZING!!! I have been in search of a quick and easy (delicious) biscuit recipe for quite sometime. My family loved them. This is definitely by far one of the best biscuits I’ve had and made ever. I was amazed at how fluffy and soft they were. Thanks for sharing
Tava…wow thanks for such kind words. I am so happy you enjoyed them and they turned out for you. Great News, Wishing you a lovely day and happy baking….Angie
I made these thus morning, had granddaughter So dropped. Dough into sprayed and butter muffin tins, look like muffins and tops and outsides at light brown but crunchy, insides soft, only baked 15 minutes
Melissa….what a great idea! I will have to try it myself next time. Thanks and Happy Baking! Angie
These are the best biscuits anyone can make !!!
These 7-up biscuits are the very best. I have made the more then four times 🙂
Delicious looking recipe,I will try these
I rolled this out and put it over leftover beef stew. It was. So good. A friend put it on top og manwich and baked it. She said it was better than having it on buns.
Nona…what a great idea, that sounds wonderful, yum! Thanks for sharing, will have to try that one my self. smiles Angie
I spoon my out dough.Turns out perfect and less mess.
Is this the one Dan?
I am curious has anyone used soda water or seltzer water? I am not a fan of sprite or 7 up and really never have soda in the house but I love seltzer water so always have cans of it. I assume it is just the carbonation that helps with the rise and the lightness of the dough. I know that soda water helps make great pancakes
Matt….I agree with you on the soda thing, try it the soda water and let us know how it worked for you. I know there is also sugar in this 7-up that does add to the taste of the rolls/biscuits. We do not drink soda at our home, we do use Perrier like it is going out of business. next time we will try just using the sparkling water and see what the results are…happy baking ~ Angie
can you use sprite? I’m sure ya can lol, and has anyone tried to add cheese or other seasoning to this recipe? THNX!
Sure you can add sprite. I have not added in other items to this recipe, but goodness to the other biscuit recipe yes. So, give it a whirl and see how it works out…please let us know how it turns out for you. Smiles…Angie
Omg, even worked when made in my rice cooker! I have a gas stove and have yet to get a propane tank so I can use it so I used my rice cooker that has a cake setting. Weird I know but it worked!! And even the mister like them, and he Always has something to say about anything I make. Love this recipe!!
Michi….glad you both like them! Thanks for the kind words! Happy Baking even if it is in a rice cooker! Enjoy…Angie
Looks delicious. I need new recipies for my fam…
Fabulous I wish my grandmother had this recipe.
Suzie, Glad you enjoyed them…Happy New Year!! Happy Baking, Angie
Thanks for posting! I am addicted to these;) Love how u gave your mom half receive.
Tonya, you are so welcome…thanks for visiting ! Smiles Angie
Great biscuits
Doris…thanks!!! Happy Baking and thanks for visiting, Angie
i have made these before and they are so good.i lost my recipe.thanks for the half recipe.this works out good for when its just me.
Vicky…thanks dear for visiting and you are so welcome….smiles
Why does my biscuits get to dark on the bottom?
Carolyn, My guess would be to move it up to the top shelf in your oven. I would suggest to turn your oven down a little to maybe 400 or 375, your oven may run a little hotter….at high temps some ovens cook differently. Smiles, Angie
This is my first attempt to make biscuits ever…..I’m a little discouraged BC, the dough was wet and sticky. But I will try again…..
Tango, I would add a generous amount of flour to your work surface, a generous amount to the top of you dough and you should be good. They are a little on the sticky side, but in the end they turn out great, moist on the inside. Let us know how your next batch turns out. Angie
so good
Delfina , Thanks….
Love this recipe. Very easy to make and the taste is great. It will be a little sticky, but if you flour your surface then dust the mixture you will be able to handle it good. I dont use a rolling pin I just pat it out with my hands.
Beth, Thanks happy you enjoyed them, yes they are sticky but adding flour to your work surface and top of the dough is the best way to correct the problem. GREAT! Thanks for sharing ! Wishing you a great weekend…smiles Angie
When did you add the 7-up? I assume right after the sour cream? Mine was very sticky and had to add more flour. I guess I folded and mixed the dough to long. The recipe wasn’t very clear that I used from facebook. Mine turned ok, but I see some practice is in store. The were still good and the grandkids liked them.
Steve…above there is step by step pictures. Hope this will help with your next attempt. This is a really wet dough….Smiles Angie
Thanks Angie, I went through those and did see that, but then I watched the video and didn’t see you add the 7 up, at that point I had not even thought about the pictures again. Also, someone who shared this recipe on facebook, the instructions are vary vague. Foe a beginner like me, vague is not good. These instructions really helped and now I need to give it another try. Thanks again, Steve
Steve….do try them again, after you have made them once you understand the whole concept and they turn out even better. Wishing you great success your next attempt. I have a 1/2 recipe for when you want to make just a few of them too…let us know! Smiles
Oh my goodness! Easy and delicious!
Thanks…so glad you enjoyed them!
Made these today with Jiffy brand mix. Didn’t fluff up but they tasted great.

I’m making these right now. Except with krusteaz mix. The dough even smelled good. Excited! Thanks for the recipe!
This had to be the most disappointing recipe. It turned out a glob that stuck to everything. I had a recipe for these many years back and they were awesome. These were not. Sorry.?
Linda, Sorry…..sounds if if you had too much liquid.
I made these last night. I patted the dough out a little thinner than an inch. I added a layer of biscuits to my buttered dish, then added a precooked sausage patty and a slice of cheese to each biscuit round, then added another biscuit round to the top. Then I baked as usual. You have a whole pan of sausage & cheese biscuits with little effort. I did a 1/2 recipe and got 8 breakfast sandwiches. I can’t wait to make a whole recipe and have a 9×13 pan full of sandwiches. Soooo gooood!!!
Lori…. Man oh man does that sound great! I will have to try that one my self ! Thanks Angie
These are the only biscuits I make now. I have started using Club Soda instead of 7up so that the biscuits aren’t as “sweet” from the 7up. These are the best “no fail” biscuits.
Jocelyn, thanks for the info I always have the club soda around the house. I too will some times sub it for the 7 up . Smiles and happy baking
I absolutely love these biscuits I don’t go through all the hassle of rolling them out and flouring them after I mix the ingredients together I just take spoonfuls and plop them inside of the pan and cook them , Wala perfect every time
Is there a printable version for 7-Up Biscuits
Gee…there is a print button above, right above all the comments on the right of it with a little green leaf. Smiles, Angie
Anyone try making dough ahead of time and cooking later
Time and temp not included! WT heck?
I have seen several websites with these recipe & all are incomplete. One have the time & temp with the ingredients, but no directions on how to combine/make. Others have no time & temp, but do have complete instructions.
Cindy, sorry it is posted on here, bake at 425 for 20 to 25 minutes. There is step by step instructions with pictures plus thee is a video. enjoy
Made these with home made gluten free bisquick. Used Greek yogurt and ginger ale. They are just fabulous! So much better than any biscuits I’ve ever had before. All the rave reviews are totally deserved.
Susan, this is so good to know, I did not know they even had GF Bisquick! Great! I will try this for my GF Friends and we always have the greek yogurt on hand. Thanks for letting us know this was available and worked. Enjoy your day! Thanks Angie
Just made these for Sunday dinner for my extended family after reading all of the positive reviews. OMG these are in the top 5best homemade biscuits I’ve ever eaten. This is coming from a down home southern biscuit, smothered potatoes, fried salmon patties and homemade syrup type of family. My 74 Year old mother says she’s paid her dues making scatch biscuits…from now on we’re having these biscuits! Great recipe.
Cc….thanks, for your wonderful review. I am so happy you all liked the biscuits. Glad your family enjoyed them as well. Please come back and try other recipes. Wishing you all a lovely day, Angie

Your welcome and thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe 🙂
Becky, thanks…so glad you enjoyed them, thanks for coming back and telling everyone! Thanks Dear! Angie
Just made them,,, best biscuits I’ve ever eaten…. I’m hooked thanks for the recipe….
Linda…So, Glad you loved them…thanks for coming back and all your kind words! Thanks…Angie
I’ve made these several times. The dough will be sticky. I do half of the dough at a time, if using a biscuit cutter, sprinkle plenty of flour on your surface and gently pat the dough out to desired thickness (I use a regular tablespoon to pat the dough out.) If the directions are followed, these buscuits are wonderful!
J Brown….Great! I am happy you enjoyed them, easy and wonderful ! Enjoy…Angie

I tried making these biscuits. I’m a first timer. But the dough was so sticky. Am I doing something wrong. What does it mean cut the sour cream. Help!
my biscuits were so sticky I could not even roll them out…scooped up with a spoon. what went wrong?
Sharon, my guess is you added to much liquid? I would add more of the bisquick next time. Angie
I don’t even bother rolling the dough out and using a floured cutter to make them pretty and round. I spoon the sticky dough out using a large round serving spoon and just drop them into the melted butter. Delicious!!! They are not perfectly round but they don’t last long enough to care.
Joann…thanks, I agree
LOVE THESE BISCUITS! The dough was very soft and a little hard to handle but oh my goodness! They were so worth it!
Cindy, Thanks…so happy you enjoyed them! Angie
Yummy ?
Johanna, Thanks Dear….Angie
Can these be prepared the night before and baked the next morning? I would like to take them to a 7am breakfast meeting.
I do not think you would be happy with the results making them the night before…sorry to say there are other biscuit recipes on the site you could make the night before {not as easy as these…but great} The rise in this recipe comes from the bubbles in the soda ~ which last only for a short while. So, making and baking right away causes the chemistry to work. Sorry, wish I had better news for you.
Just finished making the half recipe and I followed the recipe exactly as stated. They did not rise and they almost burned.
I made them but a bit too messy and time consuming as I am not accustomed to working dough. The next time I just used Pillsbury Grand Buttermilk Biscuits (from the pouch not pop biscuits) and cooked them in butter. They turned out great and just as good IMHO.
I’m making a half recipe of this as a loaf of bread! Just putting in the oven!!! Fingers crossed!
Perfection! I have also subbed SunDrop if I am out of 7 Up:$
WOW!! I went back and forth on whether or not to try this…. so glad I did! So easy and fluffy! Thanks a million!
When i say this recipe is dead on i mean its dead on point!!! I love you for this. They were so amazing my family is raving about them. Thanks so mich again
Tasha…so glad you all enjoyed them. Thanks for the kind words ….Happy Baking, Angie

Made these for Thanksgiving. They were so good, didn’t make it to dinner!
Glad you enjoyed them…Happy Thanksgiving ! Angie
Yum!!!!
I’ve been making these for a few years now & have followed your recipe to the letter. In reading the comments, my dough always turns out like Charlie had mentioned..a sticky mess, lol! I only make them at Christmas & I must “forget” how wet the dough is..it must be from the sour cream..I have to add over a cup of flour to my dough to get it to a workable state.otherwise it’s just way too sticky as the recipe calls. I would definitely have a surface packed in flour, but there needs to be more added to the recipe even? The biscuits are delicious once they’re made..I just don’t look forward to making them 🙂
I have made these several times, they are great. I have a question can I make these a few hours ahead of time. Having company would like to have the mess cleaned up before they arrive.
Debra, I have never made them ahead..but the science in this would say no due to the carbonation in the 7-up going flat and there for your biscuits also being flat….sorry wish I had better news for you ~ you could make them and cook them to the almost done stage like a par bake and then finish them off once the company arrives…update us how this works? Thanks Angie
These biscuits were so quickly made and eaten even quicker! Delicious and awesome! Thanks for sharing your fantastic recipes!!! I shall be making these again very soon! ❤️❤️❤️
Sherian….thanks for the kind words!!! Glad you all enjoyed them ! Angie
Are you using a 9 by 13 for the full recipe Or the half recipe
Correct…the smaller recipe fills a 9×13 pan Enjoy
I need to make 100 biscuits for a crowd, can I make ahead and freeze? If so, do I thaw them before baking?
Debi, I am sorry I have never made them and frozen them, they get the rise from the carbonation in the soda. I am not sure they would turn out at all, I would be afraid they would be flat? Sorry !
I tried these and love them. Easy to make. Light and fluffy. Tender dough. Not dry tasting.
I recently used your recipe for the 7up biscuits. As I’ve tried so many times and failed to make homemade biscuits, Thank you for a great easy way my family and friends can enjoy hot real and not canned biscuits ?
Everyone says 100 thumbs up to you
Thanks again for sharing.
Raine…thanks dear, so glad you all enjoyed them! Always excited when someone has success and likes the recipes! Wishing you a wonderful day! Sending you smiles…Angie
Have made this recipe and always turned out perfect. However mine dough is too soft to pat out and cut. I just use a large spoon and scoop into dish, leaving a 1/4 inch space between. They expand as they back and the butter bubbling up allows them to be separated once done baking. A truly wonderful old-timely biscuit, worth trying. ? Yummy
Darlene…..thanks dear so happy you and your family like them! Thanks for the great recommendation! Happy Baking Angie

This a great easy recipe. Light and fluffy biscuits. I’m partial to Pioneer mix”original” works great, pat out to size of pan, cut, cook and enjoy.
Jesse…thanks dear!! Happy Baking!! Angie
Great instructions – easy to follow, & I can’t thank you enough for that! Biscuits were awesome!
Thanks…so glad you enjoyed them!! Angie
Do you have a video of this recipe, I thought there was a YouTube video, but I can’t find it.
Hey…Barbra,
I did they were done by ehow company they did them and they owned them. They had them up a long time and they took them down boo hoo so maybe I will need to redone them and post them again. Thanks….Enjoy your day ! Angie
Yes please do thank you.
Did you ever do a video? These are by far my favorite and I have been making biscuits a long time. I would love to see an updated video. Thanks.
I did have a great one on ehow…but they took them down, sorry! Will put that on my list !
Thanks, Angie
these biscuits were quite a hit for our family dinner. However; the recipe required quite a bit more of the bisquick added to it in order to make it workable.
There’s just two problems I can’t seem to solve with my favorite biscuits. The butter is always too browned and the biscuits are a little soggy under the bottom. Anyone know why this might be happening?
Hey…Barbra
I would say your oven is cooking a little to hot, lower your temperature a little like 25 degrees. I would think that would help tremendously.
All the best…Angie
This dough is super wet – I add enough flour to handle and use a large drinking glass to cut out. These run together as shown, but this makes them more uniform. Finally, this is the time for parchment paper if you have it. Both with the dough (flour this) and while baking for ease in removal and .clean up.
These look awesome, kind of reminds me of my mom’s biscuits she made when I was still at home. Of course, she didn’t use a recipe, kept her flour in a bowl & mixed up the ingredients in the bowl. I tried to watch what she did, but she was too fast. I never could make them her way. Thanks for coming up with these, I have to use the recipe for your mom though. Can you substitute the sour cream with something else? I’m not find of it. 🤗
Try it…you will like them. Promise you will never know it has sour cream in them! Promise ! Angie
I’m making it now and they are good
I expanded the recipe 6X and made the biscuits for our local public high school. The teachers often do not have the time to eat anything for breakfast, so I try to help them from time to time. I baked the biscuits in well-seasoned deep dish pizza pans I had with sweet butter, honey, syrup, and fresh homemade watermelon marmalade.
