I love coming here…why guess mostly bring backs such wonderful memories. We use to come here at least three times a year and would stay about a week each time. It is a small Mayberry type place an old money type place. We would bring our son when he was a small and he would ride on the back of our bike all week long. It is such a beautiful place with all the huge majestic oaks and the draping spanish moss hanging from the trees. I am here in January and by the way I might add it is in the 70’s yep it is and quiet lovely this time of the year ~ here. So, why am I here…no not here on a food trip but as always for me it is turning into one. I am here chaperoning a bunch of teenagers on a trip oh my what in the world was I thinking just not sure, nuts I guess. We will keep it clean hows that. So, I am revisiting my places of interest trying to keep it what I remember and love….
Fresh Shrimp…..see the shrimp boat in the water, he is out getting my dinner. Tonight it will be shrimp and grits. Today I took a long walk out on the beach and met a few friends some with feathers.
He was a friendly fellow, guess he thought I had a tasty bite to eat, nope see if you feed them they call their friends and in 5 seconds you will be covered up with these cute little things and their gross little droppings too…nope not me, not today get someone that hasn’t been there yet.
Then there is the large friends you can ride on the beach here…
If you have never ridden a horse on the beach try it…put it on your bucket list! They have a new stable here with all kinds of horses and the public can ride here. They have English and Western style if you have a desire to ride one way or the other. It is a lovely place.
Or you can play golf they have so many different courses on this small island ~ not sure just how many they have but I know it is a lot. But, the best part of one course is to sit on the back porch at sunset with a cocktail in hand listing to the bagpipe player play and people watch. Nice!! The view going in is amazing see….
Road out to the old church to see what had changed out that side of town. A lot since my last visit. I love going to this little church what a great place for a wedding. Yea!
Saw a few birds on the way back in the marsh…pretty huh?
Well, guess that is all for today. I will post more tomorrow on the food. Tonight it is a full moon and it is so beautiful wish you could be here. Simply a beautiful place.
See y’all tomorrow
