Today I started with Cafe Frederica and this is a place I was told only the locals go here. So, sure enough I went and everyone in this place knew each other. But, they are all friendly they knew I was not one of them. The guy at the counter introduced him self and his wife and started a conversation with me. Of course he wanted to know why I was reading what I was reading…..Gardens & Guns well I am sure this is not a magazine you would think a lady would be reading? Right but I Love it!!
I had a 2 egg omelet with bacon, cheddar cheese and mushrooms ~ this is my combo any place I get any omelet. It was so light, filled with the goodies and cooked just right. Got cheese grits with a little butter. A biscuit cut open buttered and grilled man oh man looks as if my granny works here and showed them just how it was done. Dee ~ lish!!

Then for lunch I went to the Southern Soul place. As, I understand it has been written up by everyone that writes and been on all the TV food channels as well. Oh, well who cares right I will be the judge if it is good or not bring it on.
Well, it was a beautiful day so I sat out side and could see the private jets come in and take off. I ordered my lunch and I dee ~ clair it was dee ~ lish.
For lunch I had the pulled pork which I might add was excellent. Served with out the sauce thank you and they had many choices for the sauce too which made it nice. I also got Brunswick stew which had butterbeans in it pulled pork and corn and it was really tasty! You know Brunswick is right next to St Simons so they should know how to make this stuff right?
Now this little baby is a fried oreo yep it is and you are thinking the same thing I did YUK well the lady talked me into getting the thing…she did. Well, it was really good it was I might add! Surprised to say the least. So good infact I returned and got another order I am embarrassed to say oh well…I did!

Now for dinner we went to the Crab Trap ~ why we are tired and did not want to go far from home. I ended up eating here each visit and it was pretty good this time. No photos ~ had the kids with me and they would have died of embarrassment if I took out a camera and took a picture of FOOD? I had the crab soup which was good, the steamed shrimp which was also good and then crab which was good and yes I would go back.
Yesterday ~ I went to Sweet Mama’s all day!!
For breakfast most days we go to Sweet Mama’s and get a sackful of the pork pops ~ oh dear me we do love these little things. Just love them they are a biscuit with cheese, bacon and sausage mixed all up in side of the biscuit they are so light and yummy.
Years ago there use to be a Sweet Mama’s right at the beach and we would go on our way to the beach in the morning around 10 get our sack full head to the beach stay until we got hungry again and then head over for lunch. We would eat and return to the beach for the remainder of the day…well things change and life changes right or so they say and they moved. We got to know the owner of Sweet Mama’s, Marsha a lovely sweet lady too I might add. One day she suggested we try a sandwich that she really likes it was an egg salad ~ BLT on home made bread. Well, I do like all of that ~ but just not together oh well what the heck how bad could it be? Ever since then that was everyones lunch choice unless she had chicken and dumplings which is amazing!!
Now the dessert we all love at Sweet Mama’s is like a…bar/cake instead of cake is the best way to describe it. She makes the cake in a sheet pan, like they would do at a school cafeteria. She has many kinds to choose from. The one we are all crazy about is Aunt Dee’s Pound Cake…it is so good!
Then there is Sonny’s Delight which is a chocolate cake bottom with a cream cheese middle and then a fudgie top. Yummy!!
Then the last bar we like is the red velvet with cream cheese icing and pecans. These are our favorites of the bars. They do have others to choose from but those three are our favorites. She will also have some seasonal choices too.
They do have all the regular bakery cookies ~ one that is different than most places and the one that I love is the peanut butter with fudge icing on top it is great!
