St Augustine is such a beautiful city…it really is!
My husbands family is from St Augustine. They are very active in the Greek Church and community there. Sooooo, guess what that usually means me too, right? I spent much of the weekend making greek salads, hundreds of them….so guess what I am going to give you a recipe for ~ heee heee right.
But, first I wanted to share with you a few shots of this lovely city. Such a great place to go and visit. St Augustine does have some wonderful restaurants. An important thing for me when visiting a city is the food.See how quaint it is…and it is just as lovely at night but it was raining and I just could not get a good shot ~ sorry! Maybe the tourism board will have me come and do a real visit!
We got to stay out at his uncle and aunts house on the beach. The night we got there it was so nice the 1st thing we did was take a late night stroll on the beach. The moon was so bright and beautiful on the ocean. It was such a lovely evening. We took Maggy and she had the best time running all over the beach.
Here is the Greek Salad production line at the festival.
Greek Festival Salad
lettuce mixture ~ large handful
2 grape tomatoes
2 kalamata olives
2 cucumbers slices
feta cheese
dressing cup
Dressing
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons olive oil
pinch of dried Greek oregano
salt and pepper
Please go out and support these wonderful events. This is how this church supports it’s self in this community. It is hard for small churches to stay profitable or in the black with out these sort of fund raisers. It is to a great cause. I will post Greek Family recipes this week in honor of our family there. Many people have donated many, many hours to put these wonderful events on. Great Job!! This festival by far is the best I have been to!! Thanks everyone for your time and support…for this wonderful cause. May God Bless you!
Thank you for coming and for your help! I’m forwarding this on to the Tourist Development Council. You never know:)!
Thank you….
Love the pictures of St. Augustine. One of my favorite places to go.
Do you have more pictures of it?
Hope you’ll be at next year’s festival!
